Ormond qualified for the U.S. Open after shooting rounds of 65-63 in Final Qualifying at Gaston Country Club in Gastonia, NC.
ANALYSIS
Ormond is a great story as an 18-year-old high school senior who was able to qualify his way into his National Open with two great rounds. There were only five spots for grabs and it was very tight in North Carolina. Ormond's 12-under total earned co-medalist honors alongside Carl Yuan, but it was still only two shot clear of falling short and not making it all together. Ormond will play Shinnecock in a couple weeks and then next fall will play for Florida in his freshman season.
