The Man Advantage: Picks of the Week

The Man Advantage: Picks of the Week

This article is part of our The Man Advantage series.

It's another funky and bye-filled schedule this week with the Blues, Blue Jackets, Canucks, Devils, Flyers, Jets, Lightning, Penguins, Red Wings, Sabres, Sharks, Stars and Wild all having two games or fewer this week. On the flip side, the Coyotes, Flames, Oilers, Panthers, Predators and Rangers all play four games this week.

Oscar Klefbom is the add of the week. He has the potential to be a high-end defenseman down the stretch and owns opportunistic offensive vision. It also doesn't hurt that Connor McDavid is the most frequent forward he shares the ice with at five-on-five. Klefbom has also been promoted to the No. 1 power-play unit.

Remember to double-check the availability of players previously covered in this space and keep tabs on the recommended adds in the our Daily Puck articles throughout the week.

Boone Jenner, F, CLM: Recently promoted to top-line duty with Brandon Dubinsky and Cam Atkinson, Jenner has five points -- two goals — through his past nine games. While the scoresheet numbers don't jump off the page, Jenner's 34 shots, 10 PIM and 36 hits are solid supporting statistics. Don't forget, Jenner netted 30 goals last season.

Ryan Strome, F, NYI:Doug Weight taking over the coaching duties has helped Strome. He's pointless through his past three outings, but notched three goals and eight points over a prior seven-game stretch. His role on the No. 1 power-play is also encouraging, and Strome owns high-end offensive skill and vision.

Christian Dvorak, F,

Christian Dvorak, F, ARI: This rookie is a worthwhile four-game streamer. After dropping 52 goals and 121 points with the London Knights last year, Dvorak has struggled for much of the season. He's hot of late, though. Dvorak has three multi-point showings for five goals and eight points over his past eight games.

Brady Skjei, D, NYR: There have been a lot of offensive peaks and valleys for Skjei during his rookie campaign, but he's producing of late with 10 points and 27 shots through his past 12 games. He's not going to pad the peripheral categories, but his plus-8 rating and eight PIM over the 12-game stretch have him moving the fantasy needle in most settings.

Oscar Klefbom, D, EDM: Things are coming together for the gifted rearguard. Klefbom is a high-volume shooter (2.51 shots per game) and has posted three goals, eight points and 24 blocked shots with a plus-9 rating through his past 11 outings. He also has been promoted to the top power-play unit, which means there is extra space to play pitch and catch with Connor McDavid. That's a special bonus.

Alex Goligoski, D, ARI: The veteran is surrounded by a lot of young talent, and Goligoski has shown up on the scoresheet of late. He's logging big minutes (22:08 with 2:05 on the power-play) and has seven points through his past eight games. Additionally, Goligoski always stuffs the supporting categories and plays four games this week.

Carter Hutton, G, STL: St. Louis has allowed just 12 goals through nine games since Mike Yeo took over, and while Jake Allen is the clear-cut No. 1 goalie, Hutton has consecutive shutouts during the stretch. He's not a high-end talent, but things have changed for the Blues. With a light upcoming schedule, Hutton could become available in more leagues over the coming week. He's worth considering in deeper leagues.
