DraftKings NHL: Saturday Picks
DraftKings NHL: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Tuukka Rask, BOS at MON ($8,100): This is the third meeting between Boston and Montreal in eight nights, and the Bruins won the first two. Additionally, the Canadiens also took the ice Friday in a 3-2 win over Washington, so it's an even better spot for Rask. The Finn also enters in elite form with a 13-0-2 record, .939 save percentage and 1.65 GAA through his past 16 appearances. Just don't be surprised if Rask carries a high ownership percentage.

CENTER

Auston Matthews, TOR at OTT ($7,300): It's been seven games since the sophomore's last multi-point showing, and Matthews also has just two goals during the lull, so he's due to break out. Ottawa has also allowed 3.65 goals and 12.39 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes during its active 7-16-4 slump. This salary isn't prohibitive, either.

Nick Schmaltz, CHI vs. NYI ($5,600): While the pivot has been held off the scoresheet in consecutive games, he still boasts a high-end 3.29 points per 60 minutes through his past 14 outings dating back to mid-December. Additionally, Schmaltz has combined with linemate Patrick Kane for 3.59 goals per 60 minutes for the campaign. The Islanders enter allowing 3.66 goals per game (3.79 on the road) to solidify the recommendation.

WING

Patrick Kane, CHI vs. NYI ($7,400): As highlighted, this is a strong matchup for Chicago, and Kane stacks well with linemate Schmaltz. The high-scoring winger has marked the point column in just one of his past six contests, and his salary is way down as a result. Chasing statistical correction at a discount is a strong starting point for lineup assembly from this player pool.

Ryan Spooner, BOS at MON ($4,400): This price isn't in line with Spooner's improved production. He's collected six goals, seven assists and 33 shots through his past 14 games while logging 2:41 on the power play. As noted, Montreal is playing its second game in consecutive nights, so this checks out as a solid matchup for the Spooner and the Bruins.

Tyler Bertuzzi, DET vs. CAR ($3,500): A worthwhile flier, Bertuzzi has recorded consecutive multi-point showings and has solidified himself in a top-six role with consistent power-play looks. Additionally, Carolina enters with the fourth worst team save percentage (.895) in the league.

DEFENSE

Alex Pietrangelo, STL vs. ARI ($6,800): Arizona has surrendered 3.41 goals and 11.79 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes on the road this season, so Pietrangelo lands in a great matchup. Additionally, his high salary should keep his ownership percentage in check to create contrarian appeal. He's also now marked the scoresheet in four consecutive games and added 13 shots and 12 blocked shots to beef up his value.

Darnell Nurse, EDM vs. VAN ($4,000): Projected to quarterback the No. 1 power-play unit, Nurse's upside receives a notable boost with the promotion. He's beginning to put it all together at the highest level with four goals, an assist, nine shots and nine blocked shots through his past four contests, too. Additionally, there's nothing to fear about a home game against the Canucks, who are 3-5-2 in their last 10 games.
