FanDuel NHL: Friday Playoff Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Friday Playoff Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

GOALIE

Matt Murray, PIT vs. PHI ($8,600): Though Murray had a lackluster regular season, he's picked it up during the playoffs. Through four games he has a 1.27 GAA and .948 save percentage with two shutouts. This calls to mind the 23-year-old's performance in his prior two seasons, making this year feel more like a fluke. Plus, Murray is at home, and the Flyers may still be without Sean Couturier.

CENTER

Mark Scheifele, WPG vs. MIN ($7,500): After notching 23 goals in 60 games during the regular season, Scheifele has three goals in this series. In addition to his goal scoring prowess, Winnipeg's top-line center had 37 assists this year after having 50 last season. The Wild struggled on the road this season, as they had a 3.41 GAA in away games. That was bottom five in the NHL.

Kyle Turris, NAS vs. COL ($5,300): Turris started 65.3 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, highest on the Predators. He also tallied 17 points on the power play in 65 games with Nashville. The Avalanche had a 3.37 GAA on the road this year, but there's more going against them at the moment. Jonathan Bernier is out, which means Colorado is starting third-string goalie Andrew Hammond in Game 5.

WING

Jake Guentzel, PIT vs. PHI ($5,800):Sidney Crosby has been tearing the Flyers apart, and Guentzel has been reaping the benefit of playing on Sid the Kid's wing. He's notched seven points in this series. Brian Elliott has a 4.74 GAA and .856 save percentage this series, but starting Michal Neuvirth in his place potentially may not even help. Neuvirth hasn't played a full game since Feb. 16 and just returned from an injury.

Craig Smith, NAS vs. COL ($5,700): Smith started 60.8 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, third highest on the Predators. He scored 25 goals on 229 shots this season, and he's added two more goals in this series. Andrew Hammond is starting for the Avalanche, and the 30-year-old hasn't played regularly in the NHL since the 2015-16 season. That doesn't speak well to his potential in a moment like this.

Kyle Connor, WPG vs. MIN ($5,300): Connor only has one point in this series, but in his last 13 regular season games he had 16 points. He's put 10 shots on net against the Wild, so he's staying active. The rookie scored 31 goals in 76 contests, so we know he has it in him. As previously noted, the Wild had a 3.41 road GAA this season.

DEFENSEMEN

Dustin Byfuglien, WPG vs. MIN ($6,300): Byfuglien didn't notch a point in his last game, but that broke an eight-game point streak. Big Buff had a strong season on the power play, as he notched 3:04 per game with the extra man and tallied 22 points in 69 games. In addition to their 3.41 GAA in away games, the Wild had the 22nd-ranked penalty kill on the road.

Justin Schultz, PIT vs. PHI ($4,800): Schultz is another player who just had a point streak end, although his was five games. The defenseman has been getting a ton of power-play time recently, as he's averaged 4:05 per contest with the extra man over his last 11 games. Philadelphia had the 29th-ranked penalty kill this year, so that bodes well for Schultz.
