DraftKings NHL: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Frederik Andersen, TOR at BOS ($7,300): Expect many to write the Maple Leafs off in Game 5, so Andersen has potential to be scarcely owned. He's been awful in three of the four outings during the series, but the Dane also flashed tremendous upside in Toronto's lone win with a 40-save showing. Andersen checks out as an against-the-grain option at a discounted salary, and remember, this wasn't expected to be a short series. Additionally, it's worth noting that Toronto's .957 PDO at five-on-five is ripe for positive regression.

CENTER

Evgeny Kuznetsov, WAS vs. CLS ($6,400): The Russian has recorded 24 shots (13.22 per 60 minutes) through the first four games of the series, which represents a significant uptick in shot volume. It's resulted in a three goals and three assists, and Kuznetsov continues to show excellent chemistry with Alex Ovechkin. The duo has combined for 6.0 goals and 13.99 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes in the postseason.

Anthony Cirelli, TB vs. NJD ($3,200): With an ice-time increase in each game of Round 1, Cirelli's strong play is being recognized by head coach Jon Cooper. The rookie drove possession with a 54.9 Corsi For percentage in the two home games of the series, and he opens up plenty of spending room to pay up for stars. Additionally, Cirelli can approach value through shots and blocked shots, so there's huge profit potential if he can find the scoresheet.

WING

Alex Ovechkin, WAS vs. CLS ($7,900): This series has turned in Washington's favor, and Ovechkin has three consecutive multi-point showings consisting of three goals, three assists and 19 shots. Now back on home ice, Ovechkin is a high-floor target with a second-ranked 25.91 shot attempts per 60 minutes.

Nikita Kucherov, TB vs. NJD ($7,800): The Devils haven't had an answer for Kucherov all series, as he's recorded multi-point showings in three straight contests for three goals and five assists. He's aced the eye test in the process, and a Game 5 win could give Tampa Bay a few extra days of rest before Round 2. Expect another strong showing.

Andreas Johnsson, TOR at BOS ($2,800): A low-priced flier, Johnsson has been dangerous this series with 11.19 shots and a team-high 20.15 shot attempts per 60 minutes at five-on-five. It can be difficult to find cheap options for a stars-and-scrub approach, but after a point-per-game showing in the AHL this season, the 23-year-old Swede definitely fits the bill. If Johnsson doesn't suit up, Kasperi Kapanen ($2,800) checks out as a potential pivot.

DEFENSE

Victor Hedman, TB vs. NJD ($5,400): With a salary decrease of $1,100 since the beginning of the playoffs, Hedman jumps out as a lineup building block. While he's failed to register a point through the first four games of the series, he's reminded in a go-to role with 26:53 of ice time (4:00 with the man advantage) per contest. Hedman also helps mitigate Kucherov's hefty salary in a Lightning stack.

Jake Gardiner, TOR at BOS ($3,900): After recording a career-high 52 points during the regular season, Gardiner has also been held off the scoresheet in all four games of Round 1. His salary has dropped considerably as a result, so he's now sporting a discounted price. Gardiner's 26:12 of ice time in Game 4 was his highest total of the playoffs, and he continues to receive power-play looks.
