FanDuel NHL: Tuesday-Wednesday Playoff Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

On Monday, the Golden Knights earned a road win — their first of the Western Conference finals. Will the Lightning be able to pick up a road victory Tuesday to avoid falling behind 3-0 in the series? Here are recommendations from Tuesday and Wednesday's games…

GOALIE

Marc-Andre Fleury, VGK vs. WPG ($8,200): After having an off game to open this series, Fleury bounced back by making 30 saves on 31 shots in a Game 2 win. Now, the series heads back to Vegas. The Golden Knights had a 2.49 GAA at home this year, and they've lost only once at home in these playoffs.

CENTER

Evgeny Kuznetsov, WAS vs. TAM ($7,700): Kuznetsov has a five-game point streak wherein he's notched 10 points total. That includes five points in two games against the Lightning. He hasn't just gotten hot either, as he has 31 points in 22 games since a three-game injury absence in March. Meanwhile, Andrei Vasilevskiy has a 3.28 GAA and .887 save percentage in his last seven outings.

Lars Eller, WAS vs. TAM ($4,300): Even if Nicklas Backstrom is able to return for Game 3, and that is unknown at the moment, Eller's recent play should yield more playoff time. He has six points in his last four contests, four of which have come in this series. The center has also put exactly three shots on net in each of those four games. In addition to Andrei Vasilevskiy's recent struggles, the Lightning had a 3.36 GAA after the All-Star break.

WING

Jonathan Marchessault, VGK vs. WPG ($7,100): Marchessault led the Golden Knights to victory in Game 2 with two goals on eight shots. That's not surprising, given that he came into this game with 23 points and 76 shots in his previous 20 contests. The 27-year-old also has five multi-point games in his last eight outings. As for the Jets, they allowed 34.3 shots on net per contest on the road this year. That bodes well for the shot-happy Marchessault.

T.J. Oshie, WAS vs. TAM ($5,900): What Oshie has going for him is power-play opportunity. He's averaged 3:41 per game with the extra man in the postseason and tallied eight power-play points in 14 contests. The 31-year-old also had 18 power-play points in 74 regular season games. All of that is encouraging, as the Lightning had the 27th-ranked penalty kill this year.

Yanni Gourde, TAM at WAS ($4,400): Gourde hasn't lit the world on fire in the playoffs, but he averaged 11.1 fantasy points per game this season. He also has had some positives in the postseason, as he had a four-game point streak against the Bruins in the second round. Though Braden Holtby has been great in the playoffs, he had a 2.99 GAA and .907 save percentage this season. It wouldn't be unthinkable for him to have an off night.

DEFENSEMEN

John Carlson, WAS vs. TAM ($5,800): Carlson averaged 15.0 fantasy points per game this year, highest of any defenseman left playing. And yet, he's not the most-expensive defensemen available. It's not like he hasn't been good in the playoffs either, as he has 14 points and 48 shots in 14 contests. At the moment, it's fair to say the Lightning are the least-intimidating team defensively, which makes this, relatively, a favorable matchup.

Shea Theodore, VGK vs. WPG ($4,600): Theodore has notched an assist in both games of this series. That gives him 16 points in his last 22 contests. He managed 29 points this year in 61 games, and he averaged 2:33 per game with the extra man as well. Connor Hellebuyck has been formidable in the postseason, but over his last seven games he has a more-pedestrian .916 save percentage.
