FanDuel NHL: Monday Playoff Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Here we go! It's time for the Stanley Cup Finals! Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals are finally here. So are the Vegas Golden Knights, who had a bit shorter wait to get their first shot at the Cup.

Since there are only two teams left, we will be dealing with single-game daily fantasy until the season is over. You pick three forwards, two defensemen and a captain worth 1.5 times the points. Here are my recommendations.

CAPTAIN

Reilly Smith, VGK vs. WAS ($9,400): Unsurprisingly, the goalies of the two teams still standing have been great. You can't look at either of these matchups and think "Here's a great opportunity!" However, we must all do the best we can and just hope the bounces go our way. As for Smith, he has 16 points in his last 14 games, including five on the power play. Only two of those have been goals, but the 27-year-old has a 5.9 shooting percentage in the postseason. There's a real chance that will improve, perhaps as soon as Monday.

FORWARD

Evgeny Kuznetsov, WAS at VGK ($11,000):Marc-Andre Fleury has been amazing for Vegas, but Kuznetsov has been great in his own right. He's leading the playoffs with 24 points, and he has a 10-game point streak going. If the Capitals get on the board, the Russian center will likely be a part of it.

T.J. Oshie, WAS at VGK ($10,100): Oshie has notched 11 points in his last 11 contests and has five points in his last five games. He also has nine power-play points in the playoffs after having 18 with the extra man in 74 regular-season outings. Oshie has averaged 3:23 on the power play this postseason, which increases his offensive potential, even in a tough matchup.

Alex Tuch, VGK vs. WAS ($8,800): The 22-year-old Tuch had a nice rookie season, notching 15 goals on 171 shots in 78 games (while also adding 22 assists). In the playoffs, he's added six goals in 14 contests, including two in his last three. Though there is no arguing with Braden Holtby's recent play, the Capitals did have a 3.29 GAA on the road in the regular season.

DEFENSE

Shea Theodore, VGK vs. WAS ($8,600): Extending back into the regular season, Theodore has been playing well with 16 points in his last 25 games. He's also put 67 shots on net in that time. Though Braden Holtby has looked great in the playoffs, he did have a less stellar 2.99 GAA and .907 save percentage during the regular season. The possibility of an off-night is there.

Colin Miller, VGK vs. WAS ($7,000): Miller only has a few points in the playoffs, but he had 10 goals and 31 assists during the regular season. He also had 17 points with the extra man. On top of that, Miller started 61.8 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, most on the Golden Knights. Other than Washington's John Carlson, the defensemen in this series haven't been racking up points, so it's worth taking a shot on Miller.
