FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

GOALIE

Connor Hellebuyck, WPG vs. LOS ($8,600): Hellebuyck broke out in a big way last year, posting a .924 save percentage. As a team, the Jets were quite good defensive at home, as they had a 2.46 GAA and only allowed 29.4 shots on net per contest. The Kings were great defensively last season, but they were middling offensively, scoring 2.89 goals per game.

CENTER

Sean Couturier, PHI vs. SAN ($6,900): Couturier surprised everybody by posting 31 goals and 45 assists last season. It doesn't feel like a total fluke, though, as he saw his ice time go up by over three minutes per game, and he averaged 3:14 per contest on the power play. The Sharks, who have struggled to start the season, are the only team Tuesday on the second night of a back-to-back, and they are on the road to boot.

Jordan Staal, CAR vs. VAN ($5,700): Staal was solid last season, notching 19 goals and 27 assists. He's off to a hot start to this year, as he has four points and 12 shots in three games. The Canucks had a 3.16 GAA last season, sixth highest in the NHL, and Jacob Markstrom has never had a save percentage higher than .915 in his career.

WING

Viktor Arvidsson, NAS vs. CGY ($6,700): Arvidsson has been extremely consistent the last two seasons. He has 61 points in both campaigns, has notched 31 and 29 goals, and even put 246 and 247 shots on net. Mike Smith, who is now 36, struggled down the stretch last season, and this year he has a 4.03 GAA and .810 save percentage in two starts.

Brock Boeser, VAN at CAR ($6,100): Boeser started 62.5 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone last season, highest for a player who wasn't a Sedin. In 62 games, he had 29 goals, and also 23 power-play points. The Hurricanes had a 3.09 GAA last season, and Petr Mrazek, who hasn't had a GAA under 3.00 since the 2015-16 season, isn't likely to fix that.

Kyle Connor, WPG vs. LOS ($5,500): Connor had an under-the-radar excellent rookie season last year, notching 31 goals on 192 shots. He's built on that to start this season, as he has two goals and eight shots through two contests. Jonathan Quick is hurt, which means the largely untested Jack Campbell will likely be in the net for the Kings. That definitely changes the look of this matchup.

DEFENSEMEN

Alexander Edler, VAN at CAR ($5,200): Edler was quietly a workhorse for the Canucks last season. He averaged 24:17 per game (2:49) on the power play, and notched 34 points. The Swede also put 172 shots on net and blocked 203 shots from his opponents. He already has two power-play points, and 12 blocks, through two games this year, and as noted the Hurricanes had a 3.09 GAA last season.

Ivan Provorov, PHI vs. SAN ($5,000): Provorov got overlooked because of Shayne Gostisbehere's gaudy numbers, but as a 20-year-old he scored 17 goals on 203 shots. The Russian defenseman should only get better, given his age, and he's averaged 25:27 per game to start this season. Last year, the Sharks had a 2.93 GAA in away games and a 2.93 team GAA on the second half of back-to-backs.
