FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

The World Series is beginning Tuesday, but if you are able to drag your attention away from it, there's also eight NHL games on the slate. You can watch the Red Sox and Dodgers, but you can also play some daily fantasy hockey. Here are some lineup recommendations…

GOALIE

Juuse Saros, NAS vs. SJ ($8,100): With Pekka Rinne out, Saros is starting for the Predators. He seems more than up to the task, as he has a 1.54 GAA and .945 save percentage in four games this year. If you want a bigger sample size, last season he had a 2.44 GAA and .925 save percentage. The Sharks ranked 16th in goals per game on the road last year, and the Predators are always a good bet to get a win at home.

CENTER

Mika Zibanejad, NYR vs. FLA ($6,400): Zibanejad has been quite active to start the year, as he has 35 shots on net through eight games. He had 27 goals in 72 games last season, including 14 on the power play. Roberto Luongo is still out, so James Reimer, who had a 2.99 GAA and .913 save percentage last year, is likely to get the start.

Max Domi, MON vs. CGY ($5,900): Domi's move to Montreal has worked out well, as he has six points in his first seven games. This includes a goal in each of his last two contests. The 23-year-old has also averaged 3:24 per game on the power play, which definitely helps. Mike Smith, on the other hand, has gotten off to a slow start to the season, as he has a 3.38 GAA and .885 save percentage.

WING

Jake Guentzel, PIT at EDM ($6,600): Guentzel gets to play on Sidney Crosby's wing, and perhaps not coincidentally he has four goals in six games. As long as the 23-year-old gets to skate alongside Crosby, he's going to have fantasy potential. The Oilers had a 3.20 GAA last year, and so far this year they have a 3.17 GAA.

Matthew Tkachuk, CGY at MON ($6,200): Tkachuk has 10 points through eight games, including five on the power play. Last year in his sophomore campaign, he notched 17 points with the extra man in 68 contests. The Canadiens, meanwhile, had the 30th-ranked penalty kill last season, so this matchup could play right into Tkachuk's hands.

Nick Bjugstad, FLA at NYR ($5,000): Bjugstad only had 19 goals last year, but he put a whopping 230 shots on net. So far this season, he's averaged more than a minute more per game in ice time, which is an encouraging sign. The Rangers had a 3.21 GAA last year, and allowed a massive 35.3 shots on net per game. That was second highest in the NHL, and that bodes well for Bjugstad.

DEFENSE

Cam Fowler, ANA at CHI ($4,900): Fowler managed to notch 32 points last year, even though he only played in 67 games. The 26-year-old also has double-digit power-play points in each of his last three seasons. Corey Crawford is back, but he may still be getting into the swing of things after a lengthy concussion-related absence. The fact the Blackhawks have allowed 37.1 shots on net per game won't help him, but it will help Fowler.

Thomas Chabot, OTT vs. BOS ($4,200): Chabot is off to a hot start, as he has nine points through his last seven games. He's also notched a point in six of his seven contests. Tuukka Rask is expected to start this game, but he's been off his game so far this year. He has a 4.08 GAA and .875 save percentage.
