FanDuel NHL: Saturday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Saturday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Saturday is alright for fighting, according to Elton John, although it will get you a five-minute penalty in the NHL. It's a busy day for the league, including seven games in the evening. That gives you a lot of options for your daily fantasy lineup, including these particularly intriguing names.

GOALIE

Devan Dubnyk, MIN vs. COL ($8,600): Dubnyk has been absolutely stellar to start the year with a 1.95 GAA and .946 save percentage. The Wild were great at home last season, posting a 2.17 GAA in their home games. Though Colorado's offense has been good, they are also on the road for the second game of a back-to-back Saturday.

CENTER

Pierre-Luc Dubois, CLM vs. BUF ($5,500): Last year as a rookie, Dubois started 65.8 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, highest on the Blue Jackets. He notched 20 goals and 48 points, earning him increased minutes this season – especially on the power play. The Sabres struggled with a 3.39 GAA last year, and this season new starter Carter Hutton sports a 3.08 GAA.

David Krejci, BOS vs. MON ($5,400): Krejci has been hot to start the season, with nine points in 10 games. And in every season of his career where he's played more than 60 games, he's managed double-digit power-play points. That bodes well for this matchup, as the Canadiens ranked 30th on the penalty kill last year.

WING

Jeff Skinner, BUF at CLM ($6,400): Skinner has impressed to start his tenure with the Sabres, with five goals and five assists. Meanwhile, Sergei Bobrovsky is struggling so far, with a 3.87 GAA and .872 save percentage. He may improve, but last year the Blue Jackets owned the 26th-ranked penalty kill, even with Bob playing well. Skinner has averaged 3:06 per game with the extra man, so he should get his opportunities to take advantage of that.

Jake Guentzel, PIT at VAN ($6,300): Guentzel has potted five goals on the year, after tallying 22 last season. He's skating with Sidney Crosby as his center, and he gets a little power-play time, both which help him raise his fantasy potential. As for the Canucks, they could only manage a 3.16 GAA last year, placing them in the league's bottom-six.

Brandon Saad, CHI at STL ($4,500): Saad struggled in his return to Chicago last year, only managing 18 goals. However, he recorded a 7.6 shooting percentage that is well below his career average, so he could have more luck this season. Both Jake Allen (3.93 GAA) and Chad Johnson (4.04) have struggled, which should certainly help Saad.

DEFENSE

Oliver Ekman-Larsson, ARI vs. TAM ($5,200): After a slow start to the season, Ekman-Larsson has struck for five points over his last four games. He's also averaged 3:16 per game on the power play, and has averaged more than three minutes per contest with the extra man in all of his past six seasons. The Lightning owned the 27th-ranked penalty kill last year, and Saturday they will be on the road for the second game of a back-to-back.

Henri Jokiharju, CHI at STL ($3,600): Jokiharju has impressed to start his rookie campaign, notching six points in 10 games. He's been helped by the fact he's started 59.1 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, highest among Chicago defensemen. As previously noted, Jake Allen and Chad Johnson have been awful to start the season. And if you want a bigger sample size, Allen struggled with a .906 save percentage last year.
