DraftKings NHL: Wednesday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Jimmy Howard, DET vs. STL ($7,500): Howard struggled in his last game, but he still has a 2.68 GAA and .922 save percentage on the season. The Blues have had issues on the road this year with a 2-4-2 record. Howard is on the cheaper end, and St. Louis is middle-of-the pack on offense, so it feels like a reasonable investment.

CENTER

Ryan Getzlaf, ANA at FLA ($5,000): As is often the case, Getzlaf has dealt with injury this season, but he's been producing when healthy. The veteran has 17 points in 20 games, including six goals. He's also averaged more than three minutes per contest on the power play. On the other hand, the Panthers have a 3.59 team GAA, second highest in the NHL.

Alex Kerfoot, COL vs. PIT ($4,100): Kerfoot has 18 points on the season, including eight on the power play. He only has four goals, but he managed 19 last year as a rookie. Pittsburgh will be on the road for its second game of a back-to-back. They will likely be playing third-string goalie Tristan Jarry, who had a .908 save percentage last season.

WING

Jamie Benn, DAL at CGY ($5,800): Been has been stellar for years, and he has over 30 goals in four of his last five campaigns. He already has nine this year to go with 10 assists. The Flames have been good defensively, at least with David Rittich in net. However, they still have the 23rd-ranked penalty kill, and Benn has at least 22 power-play points in each of his last four seasons.

Matthew Tkachuk, CGY vs. DAL ($5,700): Tkachuk's shooting percentage is a bit lofty, but the fact remains he has 12 goals and 27 points in 24 games. He's also averaged 3:10 per game on the power play, and he's tallied nine points with the extra man. The Stars are on the road for the second night of a back-to-back. They either will be starting Anton Khudobin for the second game in a row or rookie Landon Bow will be getting his first career start.

Anthony Mantha, DET vs. STL ($5,200): Mantha has been stuffing the box score recently, as he has five points over his last two games. In his last eight games he's tallied nine points and put 30 shots on goal. Meanwhile, the Blues have a 3.32 GAA and .893 save percentage as a team, which is certainly a point in Mantha's favor.

DEFENSE

Brandon Montour, ANA at FLA ($4,700): Montour didn't register a point Tuesday, but that ended a four-game point streak. With injuries hitting the Anaheim blue line, the 24-year-old's minutes are up, especially on the power play. James Reimer will likely be in net for the Panthers, and he has a 3.39 GAA and .895 save percentage. On top of that, the Panthers have the 25th-ranked penalty kill.

Aaron Ekblad, FLA vs. ANA ($4,500): Ekblad has been hot recently with seven points in his last eight games. He's also put 53 shots on goal in 22 contests, which is likely to come into play in this matchup. The Ducks are on the road for the second game of a back-to-back and have given up 35.6 shots on net per contest, second highest in the NHL.
