FanDuel NHL: Wednesday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Wednesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

GOALIE

Ben Bishop, DAL at ANA ($9,000): Bishop is having a strong season, at least when he's been healthy, as he has a 2.28 GAA and .925 save percentage. This is a great matchup for him as well. The Ducks have only managed 26.8 shots on goal per contest, lowest in the NHL, and now they've lost Rickard Rakell to injury.

CENTER

Sean Monahan, CGY vs. PHI ($7,800): The value options at center aren't great Wednesday, so you may need a pricier choice in your lineup. Monahan is a great bet on that front. The 24-year-old has 35 points in 31 games, including 10 on the power play. His prowess with the extra man could come into play here, as the Flyers rank last on the penalty kill.

Cody Eakin, VGK at NYI ($4,800): With Paul Stastny and Erik Haula both out, Eakin is currently serving as Vegas' second-line center. It's worked out pretty well for him, as he's got 13 points in his last 16 games. The Islanders' goalies got off to a hot start, but they've both cooled down recently. Over his last nine starts, Thomas Greiss has a 3.21 GAA and .896 save percentage, while Robin Lehner has a 2.83 GAA and .898 save percentage in his last six outings.

WING

Jamie Benn, DAL at ANA ($7,700): Benn has been an offensive force for years, even if he's not looking like a threat to win another Art Ross. He's notched 12 goals on 79 shots, and added 12 assists as well. The Ducks have a 2.88 team GAA, which is good, but they've allowed a whopping 35.4 shots on goal per contest. If nothing else, Benn should get some pucks on net.

Matthew Tkachuk, CGY vs. PHI ($6,600): Tkachuk has started 59.9 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, third highest among Calgary forwards. He's taking his game to a whole new level in his third season, as he already has 13 goals and 33 points in 31 games. This includes 12 points with the extra man. As previously noted, the Flyers have the league's worst penalty kill, and they also have a 3.61 GAA.

Tanner Pearson, PIT at CHI ($4,500): The Penguins have used Pearson favorably since trading for him, as he's started 59.6 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone. That's second highest on the team, and he's skating on a line with Evgeni Malkin and Phil Kessel to boot. The Blackhawks are on the second night of a back-to-back, and though they've saved Corey Crawford for this game, his 3.21 GAA and .901 save percentage are not imposing.

DEFENSE

Mark Giordano, CGY vs. PHI ($6,300): Giordano is back from his suspension, which will make fantasy players happy. The guy has 29 points in 29 games, even though he has a 3.7 shooting percentage well below his career average. Is he good on the power play as well? You bet, as he has 10 points with the extra man. I probably don't need to tell you about the Flyers and their 31st-ranked penalty kill again, but I will anyway.

Marcus Pettersson, PIT at CHI ($3,500): If you don't want to shell out for Kris Letang, it's hard to find a definitive second option among Pittsburgh defensemen for fantasy purposes. It's a bit of a roll of the dice, but this matchup is worth it. The Blackhawks had a 3.68 GAA heading into Tuesday, second worst in the NHL, and they are on the second night of a back-to-back. Pettersson, who was just traded to the Penguins, has some things in his favor. The 22-year-old has started 52.8 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, tops among Pittsburgh defensemen, and in his last game he played 2:24 on the power play. Pettersson has skills, upside, and a cheap price tag.
