DraftKings NHL: Monday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Collin Delia, CHI vs. CGY ($7,000): I think this is pretty good value for Delia, who has been impressive in all four games, though it's true the Flames offense is pretty terrifying. With six wins in their past 10 games, maybe the Blackhawks are turning the corner and maybe Delia's the answer to their troubles, however improbable. Delia is 3-0-0 with a .957 save percentage against Western Conference opponents. Carter Hart ($7,200) has similar upside against the Blues, but the Flyers are more unpredictable.

CENTER

Ryan O'Reilly, STL at PHI ($6,400): He's been forever the best player on a string of mediocre teams, and he enters the game with a five-game point streak. He's once again playing in all situations and averaging more than 20 minutes per game, and expected starter Carter Hart has allowed 12 goals in his past four appearances. That gives O'Reilly a lot of opportunities, and it's a matchup I favor ahead of either Leafs center against Nashville.

Dylan Strome, CHI vs. CGY ($4,700):

With Arizona: 20 games, 3-3-6, minus-10, 13:32 TOI
With Chicago: 20 games, 7-7-14, minus-2, 17:50 TOI

The Blackhawks have figured out how to use Strome, who's skated over 18 minutes in each of his past six games. With a spot on the top power-play unit with former OHL linemate Alex DeBrincat, and Patrick Kane now a fixture on his right wing, Strome is blossoming into a scoring center. He was never given these opportunities in Arizona.

WING

Viktor Arvidsson, NSH at TOR ($6,700): He's a safe choice since he's a high-volume shooter, but the bonus is that the Leafs are expected to start Michael Hutchinson, who has a .879 percentage despite shutting out the Canucks on Saturday. Arvidsson has four goals in four games on 16 shots and ranks fifth in the league in goals per game (minimum 10 games played).

Jakub Voracek, PHI vs. STL ($5,500): He's having a tough season, but the Blues are an appetizing matchup. They're expected to start Jordan Binnington, who has made two appearances this season and allowed four goals on 25 shots. Playing with Claude Giroux on the power play will give Voracek his best chance of scoring, otherwise he's stuck playing with Nolan Patrick. Travis Konecny ($4,600) rides shotgun on the top line so he's an option, as well.

Joel Armia, MON vs. MIN ($4,000): The Habs' all-Finnish line of Armia, Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Artturi Lehkonen is certainly intriguing. It's got speed, skill, smarts and finish, and Armia has looked pretty good despite missing a month to injury. The former Liiga sniper has eight points in 17 games this season and is averaging the most ice time of his career.

DEFENSE

Mark Giordano, CGY at CHI ($6,300): The Flames talent-laden power play should have no problems against the Blackhawks' penalty kill, which is second worst in the league. The Flames' captain has four assists in his past six games, two of which have come on the power play, and continues to make a strong case for the Norris this season.

Erik Karlsson, SJ vs. LA ($5,700):Brent Burns ($6,400) comes at a premium even though both rearguards have been scoring at the same rate; Karlsson has scored 20 points since Dec. 1 to Burns' 21. Burns tends to shoot more often, so that makes Karlsson harder to predict, but both present significant upside. Karlsson has been the slightly better producer against the Kings this season, as well.
