FanDuel NHL: Wednesday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Wednesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Tuesday was busy, and Thursday will be busy, but Wednesday is a light night for the NHL. There are only two games on the slate, and here are my daily fantasy hockey lineup recommendations.

GOALIE

Henrik Lundqvist, NYR vs. BOS ($7,800): The Bruins are on the second game of a back-to-back, and on the road they've only averaged 2.24 goals per game. Meanwhile, though the Rangers have struggled on the road defensively, they have a 2.67 GAA at home. That bodes pretty well for Lundqvist.

CENTER

Mika Zibanejad, NYR vs. BOS ($7,400): Zibanejad has been on absolute fire recently. Over his last 11 games he's tallied 10 goals and eight assists. As previously noted, the Bruins are on the road for the second game of a back-to-back Wednesday. Jaroslav Halak will be in net, and while he's been good this year, over his last six games he has a 3.52 GAA and .866 save percentage.

Nazem Kadri, TOR vs. OTT ($4,800): There may only be four teams in action, but thank the hockey gods one of them are the Senators. Ottawa has a 4.32 GAA and has given up 37.2 shots on net per contest on the road. Kadri may be a third-line center, but he has 32 points, and he's played 2:32 per game with the extra man.

WING

David Pastrnak, BOS at NYR ($8,400): You have to pony up for Pastrnak, but he's almost always work it. The guy already has 30 goals for the third time in his career, but he's only played in 53 games this season. The Rangers, and Henrik Lundqvist, have been better at home, but they aren't exactly dominant at Madison Square Garden. If there were more games Wednesday, I would probably not recommend Pastrnak, but on a day like today why not just grab a guy who is reliable and has a pretty good matchup. Boston's scoring issues are because of depth, not top-line talent.

Patrick Marleau, TOR vs. OTT ($4,800): Marleau may be 39, but he's also enjoying a three-game point streak. He's had 27 goals in each of his last two seasons, and he gets to play with Auston Matthews as his center. As previously noted, the Senators have a 4.32 road GAA, which is unsurprisingly worst in the NHL.

Zach Hyman, TOR vs. OTT ($4,400): I mean, you've seen me say that the Senators have a 4.32 GAA in away games and have given up 37.2 shots on net in those matchups? This would be a great matchup if there were 24 teams in action, but with only four it looks even better. As for Hyman, he plays on Toronto's top line with John Tavares and Mitch Marner, and he also has six points in his last 10 contests.

DEFENSE

Thomas Chabot, OTT at TOR ($5,000): Chabot only has one point in six games since returning from injury, but he's put 22 shots on net in those contests. I'm not too concerned about his scoring issues, as he has 39 points and 122 shots in 44 games, and 12 of his points have come with the extra man. The Maple Leafs have gotten strong goaltending from Frederik Andersen, but they have a middling penalty kill, and they give up 32.4 shots on net per game.

Jake Muzzin, TOR vs. OTT ($4,800): Muzzin has been plugged immediately onto Toronto's top defensive pairing with Morgan Rielly, and he just had three points in one game. He's certainly got more offensive talent around him than he had in Los Angeles, the lowest-scoring team in the league. It's certainly not hard to score against the Senators, either. Have you heard they have a 4.32 road GAA?
