FanDuel NHL: Saturday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Saturday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

The trade winds are truly blowing now, what with the Senators dealing Matt Duchene to the Blue Jackets. Speaking of the Jackets, they are one of 22 teams in action Saturday. The first games start at 1:00 PM ET, so be sure to get your lineup in early. Here are my recommendations.

GOALIE

Mikko Koskinen, EDM vs. ANA ($7,300): It's hard to make an argument in favor of Koskinen's performance after his hot start to the season. However, I can make an even stronger argument against the Ducks. Anaheim qualifies as the league's worst offense by ranking last in goals and shots on net per game. If that's not enough for you, the Ducks are also on the road for the second game of a back-to-back.

CENTER

Kevin Hayes, NYR vs. NJD ($5,200): Hayes is on the trade block, and this will be one of his last chances to showcase his skills before the deadline. The big center has recorded 14 goals and 28 assists through 51 games, while potting 25 goals last year. New York's nearby rivals in Jersey don't do well away from their home arena, coming in with a 3.97 road GAA.

Kyle Turris, NAS vs. COL ($4,400): It was slow going for Turris after returning from a lengthy injury absence, but he has notched a point in each of his last two contests. He's also started 70.6 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone this season, highest on the Predators. The Avalanche have struggled to prevent goals in 2019 and played in Chicago Friday night, so they are stuck on the second leg of a back-to-back.

WING

Phil Kessel, PIT at PHI ($7,500): It's been a while since Kessel has scored a goal, but he's still managed 21 through 61 games to go with 41 assists. He also remains amazing on the power play, tallying 25 points with the extra man. This game is taking place outdoors, and for some reason the Flyers have decided they want to give Brian Elliott the start. That would be the same Elliott who hasn't started a game since November.

Kevin Labanc, SAN at CLM ($4,500): Labanc has benefited from starting 60.8 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, highest among San Jose forwards. He's also averaged 2:09 per game with the extra man, racking up 16 power-play points. The Blue Jackets may be at home but they are on the second game of a back-to-back, which still doesn't bode well for them. That also likely means Joonas Korpisalo with his 3.07 GAA and .896 save percentage will be in net.

Zack Kassian, EDM vs. ANA ($3,700): Kassian has been around for a while, but he has accumulated five points over his last seven games. He's also recently gotten the chance to skate on Edmonton's top line. The Ducks have given up 34.6 shots on net per game on the road, and they are playing the second leg of a back-to-back. At this price, and with Leon Draisaitl likely by his side with Connor McDavid facing a suspension, Kassian is intriguing as a flyer.

DEFENSE

Keith Yandle, FLA vs. LOS ($5,200): The power play is the name of the game for Yandle. He's averaged 3:43 per game with the extra man, and 28 of his 45 points have come on the power play. That makes this matchup right up his alley, as the Kings enter with the 30th-ranked penalty kill.

Rasmus Dahlin, BUF vs. WAS ($4,200): Dahlin's performance has been amazing for an 18-year-old defenseman, but he's been intriguing fantasy players regardless of his age. The Swede has posted 33 points and 120 shots in 60 games, and he's notched 12 points with the extra man. As for the Capitals, they come in with a 3.40 road GAA, which puts them in the NHL's bottom-10.
