DraftKings NHL: Wednesday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Frederik Andersen, TOR vs. EDM ($8,400): Andersen may have a 2.81 GAA over his last 15 games, but he has a .920 save percentage in that time as well. That shows that the issue isn't with the Danish netminder, as his play has been just fine. The Oilers don't seem like the kind of team that is going to get too many shots on Andersen, as they've only managed 29.2 shots on net per contest in away games. A light day of work should keep the goal total down.

CENTER

Mikael Backlund, CGY at NJD ($6,000): Backlund has a six-game point streak wherein he's tallied eight total points. Even on the second night of a back-to-back, I'm not concerned about him in this matchup. The Devils have a 3.35 GAA, which is bottom five in the NHL.

Adam Henrique, ANA vs. CHI ($4,300): This is a matchup that is really worth targeting. The Blackhawks have the league's highest GAA and the league's worst penalty kill! Alas, the Ducks are largely bereft of offensive talent. Henrique at least has 32 points, not to mention six goals with the extra man.

WING

Kyle Palmieri, NJD vs. CGY ($5,800): Palmieri seems primed for a career year, as he has 26 goals on 196 shots through 63 games. He's of course been helped by the fact he's averaged 3:22 per game on the power play, notching 11 goals with the extra man. The Flames are on the road for the second game of a back-to-back, and David Rittich will likely be in net. Early in the year that would have been a concern, but the Czech has a 3.11 GAA and .889 save percentage since the All-Star break.

Tyler Johnson, TAM at NYR ($5,000): Johnson has 21 goals this year, which was his total last year. The difference is that he's only played in 61 games this season. Playing on a line with Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point certainly helps. What also helps is that the Rangers have a 3.31 GAA and have allowed 33.2 shots on net per contest.

Drake Caggiula, CHI at ANA ($3,200): Hey, you have to be at least interested in a guy who skates on a line with Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, right? It hasn't yielded a ton of results yet, but he does have four goals in his last 12 games. The Ducks have a 3.50 GAA in February, and they've given up a ton of shots all season, so why not take a flyer on a guy who is at least getting put in a favorable position?

DEFENSE

Jake Muzzin, TOR vs. EDM ($4,700): Since joining the Maple Leafs, Muzzin has six points in 13 games while also blocking 22 shots. Getting out of Los Angeles seems to have helped. He'll get more help with this matchup against the Oilers. Edmonton has a 3.35 GAA in away contests.

Brandon Guhle, ANA vs. CHI ($2,800): Consider this a roll of the dice that is really intriguing me. Guhle was just traded to the Ducks, and they immediately plugged him in for 18:15 of ice time. They also started him in the offensive zone in a whopping 87.5 percent of his shifts. They have no reason not to give him a shot. Against a Blackhawks team with a 3.90 GAA on the road, maybe Guhle can pay off huge.
