FanDuel NHL: Friday Targets

SLATE PREVIEW

After a busy Thursday, there are only two games today. The picks won't be easy in either one, though Calgary is the only team playing back-to-back nights.

GOALIES

Frederik Andersen, CAR vs. CGY ($8,400): The Flames lost 4-1 yesterday and now have to face arguably the NHL's best team. The Canes will look to keep their four-game winning streak intact, and Andersen has yet to lose a game in over a month. Expected Flames starter Jacob Markstrom has allowed 17 goals over his past five starts.

Jordan Binnington, STL vs. WSH ($7,800): The Blues couldn't stop the rolling Pens and their scorching run, but they did hold the lead for a bit. The Caps will be a tough opponent, but they could also be without Ilya Samsonov due to an undisclosed injury. These sides haven't faced each other since 2019, but the Blues are deeper and have been excellent on home ice.

VALUE PLAYS

Seth Jarvis, CAR vs. CGY ($4,700): Jarvis gets pushed down the depth chart with the Canes now healthy, but on most nights he still skates more than your average fourth-liner because he can move up the lineup and operates on the power play. He's also recorded four points across his last three contests.

Conor Sheary, WSH at STL ($4,800): Sheary doesn't play with Alex Ovechkin at even strength, but does on the power play and that's arguably a better proposition. Sheary is enjoying a pretty productive season with 16 points and has logged more minutes and improved his shooting rate compared to last season.

LINE STACKS

Blues vs. Capitals

Robert Thomas (C - $5,300), Jordan Kyrou (W - $6,900), Brayden Schenn (C - $4,500)

Vladimir Tarasenko was placed in COVID protocol, which breaks up one of the hottest lines in the league. Schenn is listed as a center, even though he flanked Ivan Barbashev last time out. He's the best guess to slot into Tarasenko's spot, with Pavel Buchnevich ($7,200) being the other candidate. Whichever one goes there will receive a slight fantasy boost alongside Kyrou.

DEFENSEMEN

Tony DeAngelo, CAR vs. CGY ($6,000): Jacob Markstrom and the Flames' fifth-ranked PK will be difficult to beat, but only two defensemen boast elite offensive upside tonight - and the other is John Carlson ($6,900), who comes at a premium. Even if DeAngelo doesn't find the scoresheet, he should get his fair share of offensive opportunities. Of note, the Flames' road PK is slightly weaker (82.9 percent) than at home (88.0).

Torey Krug, STL vs. WSH ($5,000): The Blues spread out their minutes with Justin Faulk and Colton Parayko, but Krug easily offers the most scoring potential. He's produced four points and seven shots in three games since the holiday break and the Caps may not have their No. 1 goalie.
