DraftKings NHL: Sunday Breakdown

DraftKings NHL: Sunday Breakdown

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

SLATE PREVIEW

There are four games taking place Sunday night starting at 6 p.m. EST. Here are my recommendations to help you build a winning lineup…

GOALIE

Sergei Bobrovsky, FLA at SEA ($8,400): This is the Bobrovsky the Panthers plunked a big contract down for. He has a 2.38 GAA and .925 save percentage. The Kraken don't threaten opposing goalies too much. They've only put 27.8 shots on net per contest, second fewest in the NHL.

Ville Husso, STL at VAN ($8,000): This is assuming the Husso and not Jordan Binnington. I'm not interested in Binnington, who has really struggled. Husso, though, has a 2.02 GAA and .938 save percentage. The Canucks, meanwhile, have only scored 2.48 goals per contest, on the fringes of the bottom five in the NHL.

VALUE PLAYS

Vladimir Tarasenko, STL at VAN ($7,500): Since returning from a four-game absence, Tarasenko has an assist in both of the two games he's played in. Before that absence, though, he had a six-game point streak, so I guess he has an eight-game point streak all in all. Thatcher Demko and Jaroslav Halak are in COVID-19 protocols as of this writing, which could mean a third-string goalie in net Sunday.

Viktor Arvidsson, LOS at NJD ($5,200): Arvidsson has 10 points in his last nine games, and he's notched at least one point in seven of those contests. Additionally, with Adrian Kempe out, Arvidsson is up on the Kings' top line with Anze Kopitar, which is a fine place to be. Meanwhile, the Devils have a 3.39 GAA.

LINE STACK TO CONSIDER

Panthers at Kraken: Anton Lundell (C - $3,900), Jonathan Huberdeau (W - $7,800), Anthony Duclair (W - $6,300)

The Kraken own a 3.60 GAA thanks to having the worst team save percentage in the NHL. Philipp Grubauer has an .883 save percentage. Joey Daccord is currently serving as his backup and has an .858 save percentage. Bleak times in Seattle's net, indeed. I'm going with the Panthers' second line. Huberdeau is obviously a stud player, with a commensurate salary, but all in all I like the value of this trio.

Lundell is centering the second line because Sam Bennett has been out, but it's a good place to be. The 20-year-old rookie has 12 points in his last 12 games, and he can thank Huberdeau for that to some degree. Huberdeau already had 40 assists to go with 15 goals. The 28-year-old also has 10 power-play points in his last 11 games. Duclair has really picked things up too, with eight goals in his last 12 contests. Sure, he has a 24.3 shooting percentage, but this is a matchup where it's quite possible to stay hot.

DEFENSE

MacKenzie Weegar, FLA at SEA ($5,800): Weegar broke out with 36 points in 54 games last season, and this year he has 25 points in 41 games. While he only has three goals, he's put 95 shots on net. His 3.2 shooting percentage could easily improve. Facing the team with the lowest save percentage could help on that front.

Sean Durzi, LOS at NJD ($3,300): Durzi gets the benefit of secondary power-play usage. He's tallied six of his 11 points in 23 games with the extra man. The blue liner has also averaged 2:07 in power-play time. Durzi will likely be facing off with Mackenzie Blackwood, who has a 3.29 GAA and .894 save percentage.
