Friesen has been released from the Sharks' training camp, the Sharks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Friesen was one of the most hyped Sharks' hopefuls in training camp, so this is a bit surprising. The veteran's best shot at success would have been with the Sharks.

2005
Friesen had an extremely disappointing 2005-06 season, with only 11 points in 51 games split with Washington and Anaheim. It was only a few seasons ago in which the 30-year-old Friesen notched 50 points, so it's obvious he still has some potential and a fresh start in Calgary could be the answer. There's a good chance that Friesen will be paired up with Iginla and Tanguay on the Flames' first line, which could certainly pack some scoring punch. Friesen should get you 40-50 points with the change of scenery, so draft accordingly.
Friesen should see some power play time with the Devils and likely a spot on the second line. 50 points probably is his ceiling, but as always, he's a candidate for 25 goals.
