Madsen has had two so-so years in Houston of the AHL, and he doesn't appear poised to make the leap to the Wild right out of training camp this season. He's just 22 years old and there's still plenty of upside here.
Madsen was a fourth round pick in the 2005 entry draft for the Wild. In 2006, the center became a touted name in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) when he broke out for 100 points (32G, 69A) and 86 penalty minutes for the Victoriaville Tigers. This effort lifted Madsen to the AHL one year later, where he played 50 games for the Wild’s minor league affiliate Houston Aeros. At 6-foot-one, 185, Madsen has adequate size to compliment a wide skill set, but might only be used for depth purposes when it comes to the Wild and their goals.
Madsen, Minnesota's 2005 fourth-round draft pick, scored 32 goals and 100 points in 62 games for the Victoriaville Tigers of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League last season. It was the 20-year old Denmark native's first year playing in North America.
