NHL DraftKings Picks for Tuesday, October 13
All the tools you need for building competitive NHL DFS lineups, starting with the top plays of the day.
Top NHL DFS Plays Today
While the math will always lead to a few standout plays, it's important to incorporate the human element as well. Here are the day's top core plays from veteran RotoWire columnist and multi-sport DFS expert Chris Morgan. You can follow Chris on X at @ChrisXMorgan.
Goalie – Lukas Dostal, ANA vs. CGY ($8,300): Dostal has a 2.96 GAA and .883 save percentage, neither of which wow you, but that is in four starts. The Oilers, who have been rolling offensively, made life miserable for Dostal, but he's been good to great in his other three outings. The Flames, like the Oilers, are an Alberta team, but that's about where the similarities end. Calgary finished last in goals per game last year, and I think there's a good chance that happens again.
Defenseman – Logan Stanley, NYI vs. VAN ($3,100): Stanley is 28, and he was without a team as the season loomed. He signed a one-year deal on the cheap with the Islanders…and now he's skating with Matthew Schaefer at even strength. Nice work if you can get it. Now, he hasn't turned into Erik Karlsson overnight or anything, but Stanley has two games with two assists this season. The Flames may have the worst offense this season, but the Canucks seem likely to once again have the worst defense in the NHL. Since the start of last season they have a 3.92 GAA, and nobody else is above 3.55.
Forward – Cole Perfetti, WPG vs. MIN ($5,500): The Jets are in a rough place, but it's not all bad. You may have heard about Kyle Connor's hot start, but Perfetti has been cooking to start the season as well. With a larger role, he has three goals and three assists through five games. The Wild are on the road for the second game of a back-to-back, and Jesper Wallstedt started Monday. Calvin Pickard, now a 34-year-old journeyman, will start, and he has a career .901 save percentage.
