Reasoner's signing last year raised some eyebrows, as he doesn't offer much to a rebuliding team other than a veteran presence. He did eat up some cap space however, allowing the Isles to get above the floor, but one goal, six assists and a minus-25 rating won't offer much to a team's scoring. If Reasoner does return to the Islanders, look for it to be in his usual defensive role.
Another ho-hum free-agent signing by the Islanders , Reasoner's best attribute may be as a calming veteran influence on a young Islanders team. He is likely to center the fourth line and chip in a few goals, but nothing that will excite all that many people.
The 2010-11 season will be Reasoner's first go-around with the Panthers, and he's expected to bring veteran leadership to his new team. A consistent player from year to year, Reasoner is more relevant to an NHL squad than he'll ever be in fantasy hockey. In 2002-03, he put up 31 points with the Oilers, but that has been his career-high, so far. Draft him in extremely deep leagues if you must, but realize, for fantasy purposes, there are plenty of more attractive options at the center position.
Reasoner, who was signed this off-season, scored 11 goals and 14 assists with Edmonton in 2007-08. He played in all 82 games and had a face-off winning percentage of about 58%. Reasoner should have no more than 30 points in 2008-09.
Reasoner picked up 20 points in 72 games this past season. He'll again reside on the fourth line with the Oilers, so expect another season in the 20 to 30 point range.

Reasoner was a decent scorer in his NCAA and AHL years. Unfortunately, that success has not translated to the NHL - and it is unlikely that it will. His value for Edmonton lies with his terrific hockey sense and solid checking line presence.
