Defensive defenseman Ruth continues to struggle in the AHL, and appears to be a long way from an NHL shift.
This stay-at-home defenseman's second AHL campaign was nearly identical to his first, as he's put up six points in each of his two professional seasons at Springfield. Ruth will need to show some development soon to stay in the Blue Jackets' plans.
Stay-at-home defense prospect struggled in his own end in his first pro campaign, but the Blue Jackets will be patient with the former second round pick.
Physical defense prospect played in just 22 NCAA games last season due to injury, scoring 0-5-5 with 52 PIMs.
Blue line prospect scored 2-5-7 in 36 games with Notre Dame last season.
Acquired in the Sergei Fedorov trade, Ruth is a tough stay-at-home defenseman who's a few years away from the NHL.
Ruth is a solid shot blocker who leaves it all on the ice. And he's not afraid to be in the face of any teammate -- star or slug -- if he thinks their effort isn't there. He won't deliver from a fantasy perspective but he will deliver on the ice. At 18 years of age, however, he's still a ways away from the NHL.
Teddy is an in-your-face shot blocker who doesn't suffer fools very well, even those on his own team. It doesn't matter if you're the star center or the last man on the roster, Ruth will be in your face if you're dogging it. And his approach (thus far) has worked. He doesn't have much of a fantasy future but he sure could have a solid NHL career.
