Sauve -- who has spent the past two seasons playing in France -- announced his retirement due to concussion issues.
ANALYSIS
Suave was selected by the Bruins with the 47th overall pick in the 2008 NHL Draft, but played just one NHL game, in which he logged just 3:43 of ice time. The 28-year-old spent the bulk of his career in the AHL before transitioning over to Europe.

The speedy Sauve, who had 11 goals and 26 points for AHL Providence this past season in 39 AHL contests, is one of several young forwards who continues to knock on the big club’s door. He had a one-game cup of coffee with the Bruins last season and is poised to see more in 2011-12, though likely as an in-season callup.
The speedy Sauve, who had 21 goals and 38 points for AHL Providence this past season, is one of several young forwards who have a shot to graduate to the big club this coming season.
The speedy Sauve joins the likes of Tyler Seguin, Joe Colborne and Jordan Caron as part of the Bruins' next wave of young talent up front. He has the potential to develop into a nice two-way center with some scoring upside for the B's and could debut with the big club as soon as this coming season.
The speedy Sauve will most likely finish up his 2009-10 season with AHL Providence after his junior campaign concludes, then fully graduate to the pros -- likely at the AHL level -- in 2010-11. With his sakiting abilty, he has a shot to emerge as an offensive threat for the big club down the road.
He'll need time to develop, but the swift-skating Sauve has drawn Simon Gagne comparisons. The B’s also like Sauve’s bloodlines. His father, Jean-Francois Sauve, played for the Sabres and Nordiques, his uncle Bob had a 13-year NHL career as a goalie, and his cousin, Philipe, also tended goal in the NHL.
