ANALYSIS
Regner spent the 2017-18 campaign with the Stars organization on a two-way deal, but was unable to secure a callup, despite producing 31 points and a plus-15 rating in 66 contests, adding another 11 points in the postseason. Selected by the Blue Jackets in the fifth round of the 2008 NHL Draft, the 29-year-old's only NHL stint came during 2015-16 when he logged seven games for the Panthers. While a return to North America certainly isn't impossible, it seems more likely Regner will close out his career abroad.

Regner is cut from the Kris Russell mold, both in size and in skill set, and he's having the same sorts of troubles as a pro. He's at least another year from challenging for a spot on the Blue Jackets' blue line, if he ever does.

Late-blooming defense prospect scored 4-16-20 in 50 AHL games in his first pro season, and likely needs more development time before competing for a spot with the Blue Jackets.

Solid two-way defenseman exploded in his final junior season with 15 goals and 67 points in 70 games with the Vancouver Giants of the WHL. He'll get his first taste of pro hockey at AHL Syracuse, with an eye on cracking the Blue Jackets roster in '10-'11.
