Rodin signed a contract with HC Davos of Switzerland on Saturday, TSN reports.
ANALYSIS
The Ducks placed Rodin on unconditional waivers in late September, which effectively took him off the books and rendered him an unrestricted free agent. Sadly, the Swedish Hockey League MVP (2016) dealt with significant injuries the past two seasons, and he's heading back to Europe having only played three games (with Vancouver) in the NHL.

Rodin signed a one-year deal with the Ducks, after securing a release from his NL contract with HC Davos. Having battled injuries the past two seasons, the former Swedish Hockey League MVP only appeared in 21 games over that span -- three came in the NHL, as a member of the Canucks. This will be Rodin's third attempt to play in the league since being drafted 53rd overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. With only one point in three career games at the NHL level, the 27-year old right winger does not belong on anybody's fantasy radar until such time that he proves he is worthy of a regular spot on an NHL roster.
Scouts have praised Rodin’s offensive skills in the past due to his strong skating, puck handling and hockey IQ, but the 22-year-old winger has only flashed marginal production through his first two years at the AHL level. In 2012-13, he finished with just 14 points (four goals, 10 assists) in 49 games with Chicago of the AHL. There remains enough talent here for keeper leagues to pay attention to Rodin’s development, but re-draft leagues won’t have to consider him an option until he starts sniffing a roster spot with the Canucks, which is unlikely to happen out of camp this year.
Rodin came over from the Swedish Elite League last year to see his first action in the AHL. The 21-year-old winger finished with 27 points (10 G, 17 A) in 62 games for Chicago and, while he wasn’t all that productive during his first stint on this side of the pond, Rodin remains one of the Canucks’ top offensive prospects due to his strong skating, hockey IQ and puck handling.
Rodin, one of the Canucks' top prospects, is a strong skater with high hockey IQ and solid puck handling. However, the 21-year-old winger is currently dealing with a shoulder injury that could delay his debut with Chicago of the AHL. Once healthy, Rodin is expected to need a season or two of AHL experience before getting a shot with the Canucks.
The 20-year-old winger is set to play his second consecutive season with Brynas of the Swedish Elite League in 2010-2011. He’s a superb skater and knows how to handle a puck, but Rodin could use a couple more seasons overseas or in the minors physically maturing.
A second round pick of the Canucks in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Rondin is a raw player with plenty of offensive upside. He tends to shy away from physical play and will need to improve that aspect of his game before seeing a chance with Vancouver. At 19, he's probably a few years away from the big pond, but Rondin has the offensive acumen to turn into a long-term keeper.
