RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Anthony Peluso.
Peluso spent the entirety of the 2013-14 campaign at the NHL level, totaling five points, 85 hits and 65 penalty minutes in 53 games for the Jets. His presence on the checking line provided him with limited opportunities to make an impact in the fantasy realm, as the 6-foot-3 winger averaged less than six minutes of ice time per game. With the Jets bringing aboard T.J. Galiardi in the summer to bolster their collection of bottom-six forwards, Pelusoís path toward playing time might have grown even more difficult this season.
Peluso was plucked off waivers from St. Louis. Peluso is a gigantic enforcer type with little NHL experience (only 2 games). Still, the Jet's saw enough to tender a qualifying offer. Peluso will continue to try and make a successful transition to winger in an attempt to earn a bottom-six role as the teamís bodyguard.
Peluso's hockey niche appears to have been established after another season with 100-plus minutes in penalties. The right-winger led AHL Peoria with 14 fights and his physical style bought him more playing time with the Rivermen. But with just five goals in 62 games, there's only so much he'll be able to give the Blues should he ever be in a position to skate in the NHL. More of the same is expected for Peluso in 2011-12.
Peluso, 21, is a converted defenseman now playing right wing, who uses his size (6'4, 234) as an asset. A sixth-round pick in the 2007 Entry Draft, Peluso had a stint with Peoria (AHL) last season, notable for his 57 penalty minutes in 22 games. He'd mean more to the Blues if he works on his offense some, and is skating with the team at the NHL Prospects Tournament in Traverse City (Mich.).
