Nigro's first pro season was shortened due to an ankle injury that cost him 18 games for AHL Peoria. We didn't see the offensive touch Nigro showed in juniors, but there's time for the 20-year-old. He's well-composed on ice and makes smart plays while capable at both ends. Nigro eventually turned into a good PK guy for the Rivermen after returning from his injury. Another year in Peoria is on tap for Nigro.
Nigro, 20, has spent the last two seasons with the Ottawa 67's of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), where he led the team with 46 assists and 62 points (adding another 13 points in 12 playoff games). He's fearless in his approach and plays a good two-way game, but doesn't possess great size and needs to become a better skater. He could start the season in Peoria (AHL) where he'll get some needed seasoning.
