Mackenzie signed a three-year, entry-level deal with the Sabres on Tuesday, according to The Washington Post.
ANALYSIS
The Sabres made Mackenzie the 83rd overall pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Mackenzie joins an organization already rich with defensive depth. He only put up 15 points in 33 games last year with Tri-City of the WHL, so he's not much of a fantasy prospect at this time.

Mackenzie is entering the last year of his entry-level contract, having once again split time between the AHL and ECHL last season. He provides organizational depth in the Sabres' organization, but remains a long way from the NHL at this point.
Mackenzie made a late-season professional debut with the Sabres' affiliate in Rochester following a five-year junior career in the WHL. He will jockey for position on the blue line in Rochester this season, but is a long way from the NHL at this juncture.
McKenzie, who will be 20 when the season starts, has spent four seasons playing junior hockey already in his young life. He is on the verge of being a top ten prospect within the Sabre organization, and will have yet another year of seasoning in juniors in 2011-12.
MacKenzie was selected by the Sabres with the 83rd overall pick in the 2010 draft. He'll spend the 2010-11 season in juniors as the Sabres track his progress.
