Cowick racked up 35 points and 85 PIMs in 72 games with AHL Binghamton last season and will probably spend the season in the minors again in 2013-14. The Senators' called up a ton of AHL players last year when numerous players went down with injuries. Cowick was not among them which means he's behind a few other guys in line to get called up.
Cowick will likely spend most of the 2011-12 season in the AHL playing for the Binghamton Senators. A hard-working forward, he projects as a third or fourth-line player at the NHL level, but will need to show more consistency at the AHL level before getting a call-up. He's bounced between Binghamton and the ECHL's Elmira Jackals the last two years.
Cowick and a tough year in 2010-11, which was his first at the pro level. Splitting time between Ottawa's AHL affiliate in Binghamton and the ECHL's Elmira Jackals, Cowick did not stand out from the crowd and has a lot of work to do if he wants a shot at the NHL level. With many veteran players leaving Binghamton in the off-season, Cowick should have a good opportunity at sticking with the B-Sens for the entire year.
Cowick will spend the entire 2010-11 season playing for the Binghamton Senators. He projects as a future 3rd or 4th line checking forward with the ability to put the puck in the net.
