The 2011 fourth-round pick spent the 2012-13 season splitting time between two Swedish clubs before joining Chicago of the AHL late in the season. He made eight appearances with Chicago, finishing with two points and a plus-1 rating. Blomstrand has shown flashes of offensive ability at times, but his overall scoring potential is considered limited, so most pundits peg him as a solid third-line defensive-minded forward who will occasionally chip in a goal. Blomstrand seems destined for the AHL this year.
