September 19, 2016
Roy will be invited to join Vancouver's training camp, Jeff Paterson of TSN 1040 reports.
ANALYSIS
Roy was drafted by the rival Oilers in the second round of the 2013 NHL Draft, but was never signed to an entry-level contract. The center spent last season on an AHL contract with Bakersfield where he garnered eight goals in 42 outings. This invite appears to be more of a depth move in order to help fill in gaps caused by the World Cup of Hockey, but the 21-year-old will have the chance to earn a possible two-way deal that ties him to Vancouver for the time being.

2014 Fantasy Outlook
Roy was taked in the second-round of the 2013 draft and has accumlated 60 goals and 141 points in three seasons for Blainville-Boisbriand of the QMJHL. He's delivered at a point-per-game pace the last two seasons, but needs to add bulk to his 6-1 frame (182 lbs) to survive in the NHL. He can (and will) return to junior for his overage season.
