Kea will be a free agent on July 1 after failing to receive a qualifying offer from the Sabres.
ANALYSIS
The Sabres envisioned Kea as a two-way center with size, but instead he spent parts of three seasons between AHL Rochester and ECHL Elmira. He showed improvement in the ECHL, but could never hold down a roster spot in the AHL, finishing with just four goals and three assists in 71 career AHL games.

2014 Fantasy Outlook
Kea didn’t wrap up his junior career on a particularly high note, but will enter his first pro season this year. The former third-round pick is a big power center and will be honing his game in the AHL with Rochester for most of the season. He collected 44 goals and 199 penalty minutes in his final two seasons with OHL Saginaw and will need to prove himself in the AHL level first before joining the Sabres down the road.
