Simonelli signed a professional tryout agreement Monday with the Oilers.

ANALYSIS
Simonelli probably has the best shot of Edmonton's five PTO signings to land a spot on the roster given the lack of experienced depth ahead of him on the blue line. In two years with AHL Providence, the defenseman did not put up a lot of points (11), but is unlikely to be looked to for scoring. While it means doesn't always translate to fantasy production, the team will be more concerned about his angles, positioning on the ice, and ability to read the play. If he can put together a solid camp, he could secure a permanent contract for the 2016-17 campaign.
