2014 Fantasy Outlook
Melchiori’s second season at AHL St. John’s was statistically a near carbon copy of his debut campaign, with the 22-year-old receiving a brief taste of NHL action in December with the Jets. As a left-handed defenseman, Melchiori benefits from the Jets’ lack of other blueline prospects of that left persuasion, but his limited offensive upside probably minimizes any long-term fantasy value he might hold. Another season at St. John’s likely beckons, but Melchiori should at least factor into the mix for a third-pairing spot with the Jets during training camp.
