2019 Fantasy Outlook
Sharks fans have a close eye on Simek's recovery, as he required surgery to repair both his MCL and ACL in March. This follows a rookie campaign consisting of a goal, nine assists and a plus-7 rating over 41 games for the left-shot defenseman, who earned the distinction of playoff MVP for Liberec Bili Tygri HC of the Czech league in 2016. It's clear that Simek is a special talent since he bypassed the NHL draft and required just one season with AHL San Jose, but the Sharks have plenty of depth on the blue line. Jacob Middleton and Tony Sund -- just to name a few -- figure to give Simek a run for his money in training camp. Read Past Outlooks

Set to miss road trip
DSan Jose Sharks
Leg
October 21, 2019
Simek (leg) isn't expected to play on the Sharks' upcoming road trip, Brian Witt of NBC Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
The injured defenseman will join his teammates for the road trip, but the expectation, for now, is Simek will sit out all five games. On a positive note, he is participating in portions of practice, including battle drills, so a return to San Jose's lineup does appear to be imminent for the 27-year-old.
