Libor Sulak

An intriguing blue-line prospect, Sulak finds himself in an interesting position. He turned pro last season and made his way into two games with AHL Grand Rapids, though he has yet to make his NHL debut and only has one year remaining on his entry-level contract with the Wings. The Czech defenseman represented his home country at the 2018 IIHF World Championship and finished with 22 shots on goal to rank second in that category to supplement a game-winning, power-play goal and two helpers over eight contests. Sulak figures to compete with the likes of Joe Hicketts and fellow countryman Filip Hronek for a roster spot in training camp; those two are far more accustomed to the smaller rinks in North America, meaning it could take a massive effort for the undrafted Sulak to run away with the job.
