Maenalanen recorded a modest eight points in 34 games for the Hurricanes as a rookie last season, and he'll compete for a bottom-six role with the club. The 25-year-old Finn is never going to be an offensive dynamo, but Carolina's hoping his 6-foot-4, 207-pound frame helps Maenalanen turn into a defensive-minded, physical bottom-six contributor. Since there's no guarantee he'll stick in the NHL and his upside is limited even if he does, Maenalanen shouldn't garner much interest in the fantasy realm.
