Mark Ellis' .956 OPS and OPS's over 1.000 by Jack Cust (1.111) and Kurt Suzuki (1.304). Ryan Sweeney is the only Athletic regular with more than 10 at-bats against Wakefield who has struggled against the knuckleballer, but his placement on the DL ensures he won't be in the box. The A's roughed up Wakefield in his only appearance against them this season (eight hits, six runs, .320 BAA in six innings), and he has a 5.61 ERA and 1.419 WHIP in 17 career appearances in Oakland.

Recommended Pickup

Lorenzo Cain, OF, MIL - Cain has yet to start since the Brewers gave him his first major league promotion Friday, but he has come on as a replacement twice and went 2-for-2 in Sunday's game. One of those hits was a close-miss homer, but he was known more for his speed (25 steals and two CS's in 72 games) than his power (.439 slugging percentage in 325 at-bats) in the minors. He might be a tough add in shallower mixed leagues, as he probably won't start everyday unless Carlos Gomez's struggles continue and Jim Edmonds gets hurt and/or traded, but his value expands in deeper leagues where steals come at a premium, and in keeper formats. Those scared by his 2009 stats (.214 batting average for Double-A Huntsville) should keep in mind he missed half of the year with an MCL injury. He is actually younger than Gomez.
