Closer Watch - A closer look at intriguing ninth-inning situations (also check out our Closer Grid)

Baltimore – Kevin Gregg nearly blew a four-run lead Saturday night and had to be removed in favor of Mike Gonzalez after Orlando Cabrera hit a base-clearing double. With Cabrera representing the tying run, Gonzalez recorded the final out. It still looks like Gregg is the closer, but Koji Uehara has been sensational all year, and sooner or later Gregg's 1.58 WHIP will catch up to him.

Minnesota – After being reinstalled as the closer, Joe Nathan allowed a hit to Eric Hosmer, but nothing else as he closed out the Royals and notched his first save since April 8.

Mark Ellis, 2B, COL – After the Athletics decided Jemile Weeks was ready to stay at the MLB level, Ellis was traded to Colorado. He was quickly installed in the No. 2 spot in the order, where he has instantly taken advantage of Coors Field. Ellis is 16-for-52 (.308) with two home runs, eight doubles and 10 RBIs. Ellis could be a nice addition this week for those in deeper leagues.
