Closer Watch

Yankees – David Robertson's slated to return from his oblique injury in mid-June, but Rafael Soriano has a grip on the closer's role now, as he's saved six without a hitch and though his 1.53 WHIP does look ugly, he actually posted a much more respectable 1.24 mark for the month of May. Robertson will likely reclaim the eighth-inning role upon his return.

Cubs – Carlos Marmol's back and he's wild as ever. He walked a pair of batters (and struck one out) in a scoreless inning in his return from the DL. Rafael Dolis wasn't the answer (or even decent), James Russell is best used as a lefty specialist, and Shawn Camp is a 36-year-old finesse pitcher with an 87 mph fastball.

Recommended Pickup

Justin Smoak, 1B, SEA – Once one of the biggest names in prospecting, Smoak almost fell off the fantasy map thanks to his first season-plus in a Mariners uniform. While he showed good plate discipline last year, he failed to hit for average or power. This season, after an ice-cold start, Smoak has turned it on over the past couple weeks, taking advantage of trips to better hitting environments in Colorado and Texas, but also hitting a couple of bombs at home in Safeco. Over his last six games, he's 9-for-24 with four homers and 12 RBI. And Smoak's peripherals point to his batting average continuing to right itself -- he's raised his line-drive rate, but his BABIP is lingering at .256. That points to some bad luck that seems to be turning around.

Other Recent Recommendations: Colby Rasmus, Kris Medlen, Lonnie Chisenhall, Tom Wilhelmsen, Steve Cishek
