Recommended Pickup

Ben Sheets, P, ATL – At the beginning of the season, the Braves seemed like they had perhaps the most rotation candidates in all of baseball. Since then Brandon Beachy has gone down in need of Tommy John. Jair Jurrjens and mike Minor have disappointed. Randall Delgado has not panned out. Julio Teheran is struggling in Triple-A. The Braves got desperate and signed Ben Sheets in hopes he can make a comeback. Sheets, of course, needs no introduction. He was always a top flight starter when healthy. The problem was, he had difficulty staying healthy. Sheets has not pitched since 2010 and the braves will call on his services Sunday after just two Double-A starts. Sheets went 10.2 innings in those two starts, with ten strikeouts and just one walk. It remains to be seen if he can be effective in the majors once again… and then, there is still an injury risk.
