DraftKings NHL: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

Wednesday only features two games on the docket, but that doesn't mean there isn't fantasy potential to be found. One of the matchups sees the Jets take on the Maple Leafs. Based on what we know about those two teams, that game could be lucrative from a goal perspective. You might want to focus your fantasy on that one as opposed to the matchup between the Red Wings and Rangers.

GOALIE

Henrik Lundqvist, NYR vs. DET ($8,500): Lundqvist is the priciest netminder going Wednesday, but it's with good reason. King Henrik is the best goalie of the four choices, and the Rangers are the best team. There's no need to overthink things. Just take the safe option.

CENTER

Mathieu Perreault, WPG vs. TOR ($4,400): Perreault has never managed to stay healthy for a full season, but he's healthy now. He's the second-line center for a Jets team that's as deep as it has been since moving to Winnipeg, thanks to its young talent. So far, he has two points and eight shots on goal in three games. He'll also cost you a whole lot less than Winnipeg's top center, Mark Scheifele ($7,100). That could make Perreault a great bang-for-your-buck option.

WING

Mitch Marner, TOR at WPG ($4,700): The man who some call Mitchell is sort of overshadowed by compatriot Auston Matthews, but he's only one year removed from being drafted fourth overall. Marner only has one point (a goal) so far, but he's taken 10 shots on net, which is very encouraging. Talented and cheap is a winning combination, especially in a matchup like this.

Patrick Laine, WPG vs. TOR ($5,600): Let's say you want to be on the Winnipeg side of things in the Leafs-Jets matchup, though. If so, you could opt for the guy, who was drafted second overall this year. Laine is still living a bit on those two points he scored in his first game, but the talent and ice time are still there. Perhaps this is the night he gets back on the scoresheet.

Connor Brown, TOR at WPG ($3,200): If you're really looking to save money to spend it elsewhere, Brown is a nice option with potential for a good payoff. Stop us if you've heard this before, but Brown is a talented, young forward for the Maple Leafs. However, due to how much young talent the Leafs have, Brown doesn't get as much ice time as some, and his power-play time is limited. Still, in the nine NHL games he's played, he has seven points. If you want to take a gamble, Brown is one of the best flyers (non-Philadelphia wing) available Wednesday.

DEFENSEMEN

Jake Gardiner, TOR at WPG ($3,700): What makes Gardiner a good fantasy option, probably the best among Toronto's blueliners, is the power-play time he sees. Since his rookie season, he's averaged two minutes or more with the extra man. Going up against the Jets, who are expected to start Michael Hutchinson in net, is a good opportunity to use him.

Toby Enstrom, WPG vs. TOR ($3,500): There was a time when Jets were Thrashers and Enstrom was one of the better defensemen in the NHL. That was long ago, though, and a lot of injuries have befallen Enstrom since. So far, though, the Swedish veteran is looking pretty good. He's playing more minutes, and more on the power play, and he has two points so far. Unless you want to spend big on Dustin Byfuglien, Enstrom is your best Winnipeg option.
