DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

There's a 10-game slate in the NHL on Tuesday, and the Bruins and Canucks are both on the wrong end of back-to-back games. Here are a handful of players to consider while assembling your DraftKings lineups.

GOALIE

Calvin Pickard, COL vs. ARI ($7,400): Since entering the league, Pickard's .940 five-on-five save percentage is second to only Carey Price among goalies with at least 1,000 minutes. Colorado draws the injury-depleted Coyotes at home Tuesday, and Pickard carries a modest price. He's also won each of his three starts this year with a .946 save percentage and 1.50 GAA.

CENTER

Sidney Crosby, PIT vs. EDM ($7,800): Typically, a player in this price range doesn't check the value box, but Crosby has been contributing at an elite level dating back to the Pittsburgh coaching change last season. This salary just doesn't match the output. After all, Crosby has posted 38 goals and 76 points through his past 66 regular season games, and Edmonton is playing its fifth road game in eight nights.

Tomas Plekanec, MON vs. BOS ($4,800): The veteran center played between Max Pacioretty and Brendan Gallagher last time out, which should provide an offensive spark for Plekanec. He picked up his first goal of the season in that game, but with 27 shots and just the single tally, there is still room for some positive regression offensively. Boston will also be playing its second game in consecutive nights.

WING

Matt Read, PHI vs. DET ($4,000): Promoted to the top line during Monday's practice, Read has shown an uptick in scoring this year with six goals through 13 games. Additionally, playing with Claude Giroux is a nice value boost given the duo has combined for 17 assists thus far. The Red Wings have also allowed 16 goals over their past four games.

Pavel Buchnevich, NYR vs. VAN ($3,400): New York grabs the Canucks on the wrong end of back-to-back road games, but it will also be Vancouver's fifth away contest in seven nights. It's a good spot for Buchnevich to stay hot and, at this salary, he presents nice value. The rookie is playing a depth role, but has posted 6.4 shots per 60 minutes at five-on-five and owns oodles of offensive talent.

Tyler Bertuzzi, DET at PHI ($2,800): Near minimum price and making his NHL debut, Bertuzzi checks out as a potential low-priced flier Tuesday. He skated with Dylan Larkin and Frans Nielsen on the top line during Monday's practice. His cap relief will likely prove more valuable than his fantasy return, but there's upside.

DEFENSE

Tyson Barrie, COL vs. ARI ($4,800): The Coyotes allow the most scoring chances (20.04) and high-danger scoring chances (13.83) in the league per 60 minutes, while Barrie has started 59.5 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone and owns a 93.3 PDO. With a seventh-best 1.71 points per 60 minutes among defenseman with at least 3,000 minutes over the past three years, Barrie's in line for positive statistical regression, and Tuesday's matchup is the perfect spot for it to begin.

Radko Gudas, PHI vs. DET ($3,600): Currently padding the fantasy point column, Gudas has four points, nine shots on net and 17 blocked shots through his past five games. The supporting statistics provide a nice fantasy floor, as he can hit value without landing on the scoresheet at this salary. As noted, Detroit has been porous defensively of late, and the Flyers average 3.83 goals per game at home.
