This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.
Regardless of what you think about the election results, the NHL has three Wednesday games for you to watch and use for daily fantasy purposes. Here are some players to target in hopes of helping you celebrate/lament the future of these United States.
GOALIE
Robin Lehner, BUF at OTT ($7,200): Lehner is the cheapest starting goalie on Wednesday, but he still has a decent chance of getting a win. The Senators are a pretty good team offensively, but they're also on the second night of a back-to-back. On top of that, Lehner has been great, posting a .925 save percentage. If he gets a little offensive support, he could get you a win at a cheap price.
CENTER
Jonathan Toews, CHI at STL ($6,100): Toews has a respectable 10 points in 13 games, but he only has four goals on 37 shots. He's converting at a lower rate than he usually does, so his numbers should improve going forward. St. Louis goalie Jake Allen has struggled to a .903 save percentage, so there's a good chance Toews will improve that shooting percentage in this game.
Alexander Wennberg, CLM vs. ANA ($4,900): The 22-year-old Swede has 12 points in 10 games, eight of which have come on the power play. He's playing more this season, including more than two minutes on the power play. Wennberg is a good, under-the-radar player at a nice price point.
WING
Kyle Okposo, BUF vs. OTT ($6,000): The Sabres have struggled a bit offensively, but not Okposo – he has five goals and eight points in 11 games. Since the Sens are on the second night of a back-to-back, they will likely be starting Mike Condon, who (his impressive debut with them notwithstanding) had a .903 save percentage in his one NHL season. That's good for Okposo.
Marian Hossa, CHI at STL ($5,400): The 37-year-old Hossa is still going strong. He has 11 points in 12 games, he's still getting power-play time, and he's got five points with the extra man. As previously mentioned, Allen has had a rough season for the Blues, and that makes for a favorable matchup.
Nick Foligno, CLM vs. ANA ($4,900): Foligno is tied for the team lead in points for the Jackets with 12 in 10 games. He may never score 30 goals again, like he did two seasons ago, but he's still able to contribute offensively. Anaheim is a decent matchup, and with so few teams going, a player at Foligno's price is usually worth a shot.
DEFENSEMEN
Rasmus Ristolainen, BUF vs. OTT ($5,800): The points about Ottawa have been made a couple times already. It's a good matchup for Ristolainen, who has eight points this season, six of which have come on the power play. He's taken 20 shots on goal and blocked 23. Ristolainen is one of the more expensive defensemen, but he's worth the price.
Kevin Shattenkirk, STL vs. CHI ($5,400): The Blackhawks still have the NHL's worst penalty kill, which is a good thing for their offensive-minded opponents. That includes Shattenkirk, who has six power-play points and is playing almost four minutes a night with the extra man. This is a great opportunity for Shattenkirk, and if he takes advantage of it, he could really help your DraftKings lineup.
