FanDuel NHL: Wednesday Picks

FanDuel NHL: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

The main event contests at FanDuel feature all 12 evening games in the NHL on Wednesday. Here are a number of options across the salary ranges to consider while assembling your lineups.

GOALIE

Sergei Bobrovsky, CLM vs. CGY ($9,200): The Flames have scored just 2.29 goals per game, and they're generating the fifth-fewest scoring chances per 60 minutes at five-on-five this year (18.17). Bobrovsky's .931 save percentage ranks third in the league among goalies with at least 800 minutes played, so if you're looking to spend up for security in net, he's your top option.

CENTER

Jeff Carter, LOS vs. NYI ($7,100): The veteran pivot is 11th in the league in points per 60 minutes at five-on-five among skaters with at least 200 minutes. This is a juicy home date with the struggling Islanders, who have allowed the second-most scoring chances per 60 minutes at five-on-five and enter on the second leg of back-to-back road games.

Tyler Johnson, TAM vs. PHI ($5,800): Now the No. 1 center for Tampa Bay with Steven Stamkos (knee) out, Johnson sports a four-game point streak while averaging 18:28 of ice time. Philadelphia entered Tuesday's game allowing the most goals per game in the league (3.42), and Johnson and linemate Nikita Kucherov have impressively combined for 3.58 goals for per 60 minutes at five-on-five over the course of their careers.

WING

Filip Forsberg, NAS vs. DAL ($6,400): Dallas is allowing 3.30 goals per game and has allowed the fifth-most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes at five-on-five this year. Forsberg has consecutive 60-point seasons and is currently sporting an unsustainably low 2.6 shooting percentage. With six points -- one goal -- through his past seven games, look for Forsberg to stay hot in this ripe matchup.

Max Domi, ARI vs. VAN ($5,500): The Canucks have allowed the sixth-most scoring chances per game this season (22.26) and own a disastrous 1-6-1 road record for the year. Domi has hit his stride over his past six games with two goals, four assists and 13 shots on net while averaging 17:12 of ice time, with 2:28 of that on the man advantage. Look for Domi to be scarcely owned Wednesday, and the sophomore has been significantly better at home during his career with 38 points -- 12 goals -- through 47 games.

Mikko Rantanen, COL vs. EDM ($4,300): Ten-game spans are arbitrary stat grabs, but Rantanen's past 10 outings have featured significant offensive involvement and respectable output. He has six points with 18 shots on net while averaging 18:10 of ice time (2:45 on the power play) in that span. Edmonton is allowing the second-most high-danger scoring chances at five-on-five this year (11.86), too.

DEFENSE

Zach Werenski, CLM vs. CGY ($5,200) The rookie has hit the scoresheet in 12 of 17 games, and Werenski hasn't gone more than two consecutive outings without registering a point, so this salary is very reasonable in a soft matchup. Calgary is allowing 3.24 goals per game, after all.

Troy Stecher, VAN vs. ARI ($4,200): With 21 shots and an average of 22:06 on the ice (2:55 on the power play) over his past five games, Stecher presents nice value in a cushy matchup. The Coyotes are allowing the most scoring chances per 60 minutes at five-on-five in the league (26.12), and they're killing penalties at a 28th-ranked 76.5 percent.
