DraftKings NHL: Thanksgiving Values

DraftKings NHL: Thanksgiving Values

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

With just two games on Thanksgiving's NHL schedule, the difference between winning big, hitting the cash mark or losing will be extremely small in daily contests. That makes your selections tricky, so here are a handful of options to consider across a few different price ranges.

GOALIE

Tuukka Rask, BOS at OTT ($7,600): Fading Carey Price ($8,600) at home is risky, but Rask has been outstanding to start the year, too. The Boston goalie has an 11-3 record with a .942 save percentage and 1.57 GAA, and for those looking to go against the grain, Rask should carry a far lower ownership rate than Price.

CENTER

Jordan Staal, CAR at MON ($4,900): Purely an against-the-grain flier, Staal is mired in a four-game point drought and lands in a daunting road matchup against Montreal. However, he should be scarcely owned and is averaging 19:24 of ice time per night, with 2:50 of that coming on the power play.

Tomas Plekanec, MON vs. CAR ($4,800): This is a buy-low spot for the struggling pivot, who's projected to play between Max Pacioretty and Brendan Gallagher on Thursday. Plekanec has spent most of the season in more of a defense-first role, resulting in just one goal and four assists through 20 games. Still, the line shuffle creates upside for the veteran.

WING

Brad Marchand, BOS at OTT ($7,100): Dating back to last season, Marchand's 2.22 points per 60 minutes at five-on-five rank 11th among all skaters with at least 1,000 minutes played. That's also the highest mark in Thursday's player pool. He's locked into a top-line role and has averaged 2.47 shots per game this year.

Alexander Radulov, MON vs. CAR ($6,200): The winger is looking like an elite scorer of late, having netted nine points during his active seven-game point streak. He's acing the eye test, and there's potential for his fantasy results to improve even further. Radulov and center Alex Galchenyuk have combined for an impressive 4.9 goals for per 60 minutes at five-on-five this season.

Sebastian Aho, CAR at MON ($4,300): A flier to consider alongside Staal. Aho has registered 32 shots on net over his past 13 games and has posted an impressive 57.0 CorsiFor percentage for the year. His goals per 60 minutes at five-on-five have seen a significant bump (0.83) while he's sharing the ice with Staal, too.

DEFENSE

Torey Krug, BOS at OTT ($5,200): After posting a 6.7 shooting percentage through his first two full seasons in the league, Krug has a 1.7 mark since. The defenseman has averaged 3.01 shots per game dating back to the beginning of last year, and he has a 10th-ranked 1.54 points per 60 minutes since 2013-14. His production has remained impressive, but there's also positive regression due to him, and the Sens aren't an imposing opponent.

Jeff Petry, MON vs. CAR ($4,500): There's nice value in this salary, as Petry has recorded 18 shots on net and blocked seven shots while averaging 22:53 of ice time per night over his past six games. Additionally, Petry owns a solid 22nd-ranked 1.3 points per 60 minutes among defensemen with at least 400 minutes this year; it's questionable whether he can keep that up, but it makes him a good value in a positive matchup on a thin night.
