DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

There are 12 games in the NHL on Tuesday. Here are a handful of selections across multiple price ranges to consider while assembling your DraftKings lineups.

GOALIE

Devan Dubnyk, MIN at VAN ($8,000): The risk here is that Dubnyk will be highly owned, but otherwise, it's a top matchup at a reasonable salary. He has been sensational this year (.946 save percentage and 1.66 GAA), but that's not news as Dubnyk's been a high-end goalie since joining Minnesota with a .928 save percentage and a 2.06 GAA. Vancouver enters averaging just 2.14 goals per game, too.

CENTER

Joe Thornton, SAN vs. ARI ($5,500): The veteran isn't shooting or scoring goals these days and owns a nine-game goalless stretch with just 11 shots on net. Additionally, Thornton has only two assists during the span. This is a slump-busting matchup though, and considering his current form, he should have low ownership. Arizona has allowed the most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (12.81) and fourth-most goals per game (3.15) this season. The Coyotes are also killing penalties at a seventh-worst 79.7 percent.

Kyle Turris, OTT vs. BUF ($5,400): Home-road splits aren't always predictive of future results, but Turris has been much better at home this season with seven goals and 26 shots through 13 games. Another fringe fantasy lean/angle is that he will be facing a former teammate in net. He has fired thousands of shots on Robin Lehner over the years, which could help the shooter or the goalie. Call it a hunch, but Turris is the top offensive center for Ottawa, and his ownership should be low Tuesday.

WING

Filip Forsberg, NAS at COL ($6,200): Over the past two seasons, Forsberg scored 2.58 points per 60 minutes and owned a 12.2 shooting percentage. This season, his P/60 is similar (2.47), but he has an underwhelming 4.4 shooting percentage. The goals are coming for Forsberg, and this price doesn't break the bank, especially considering his solid track record.

Jonathan Drouin, TAM at CLM ($5,100): Despite playing top-six minutes and skating with the No. 1 power-play unit, Drouin has just two points through six games since returning from a head injury. However, he's had at least two shots in each outing and is coming off an eight-shot night against Boston on Sunday. This salary is ripe for profit, too.

Anthony Mantha, DET vs. DAL ($3,800): A low-priced flier with upside, Mantha has three points and 19 shots on net through his past four games. He's averaged 17:05 of ice time with 1:58 on the power play, and the rookie is skating on an intriguing line with Henrik Zetterberg and Tomas Tatar. Additionally, the Stars enter on the wrong end of back-to-back road games.

DEFENSE

John Klingberg, DAL at DET ($4,800): Among defenders with at least 3,000 minutes over the past three years, Klingberg's 1.79 points per 60 minutes rank fifth in the league. He's back atop the Dallas depth chart and skating with the No. 1 power-play unit, and this salary doesn't match his strong offensive production since entering the league. This checks out as a buy-low spot.

Marc-Edouard Vlasic, SAN vs. ARI ($4,400): Vlasic is expected to play Tuesday after leaving Saturday's game with an undisclosed injury, and as noted, it's a high-end matchup against Arizona. The veteran defenseman has just a single assist through his past seven outings, but he's also registered 18 shots and 13 blocked shots to highlight his respectable fantasy floor. Before a shortened night Saturday, Vlasic was averaging 21:52 of ice time per night with 2:23 on the power play.
