DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

There are nine games in the NHL on Tuesday, so with a deep player pool, it'll be easy to differentiate your selections for tournaments. Here are a number of recommendations across multiple price ranges to considering while assembling your DraftKings lineups.

GOALIE

Steve Mason, PHI at BUF ($7,500): Through his first three full seasons with the Flyers, Mason posted a high-end .921 save percentage. The backstop appears to be finding his form again with a .969 mark and 0.96 GAA through his past three outings, and lands in a solid matchup Tuesday. The Sabres have lost six of their past seven games and will be suiting up for their third game in four nights. This is a cushy salary, and the Flyers are in a must-win spot.

CENTER

Ryan Johansen, NAS at ANA ($5,800): The setup man has hit the scoresheet in six of his past seven games and collected a goal and 10 helpers during that stretch. Johansen has just nine shots during that time, so his fantasy floor is low. However, his 1.18 primary assists per 60 minutes rank 12th in the league among all skaters with at least 1,200 minutes, and the Ducks are still without No. 1 goalie John Gibson and sport an underwhelming 5-7-1 record since Feb. 1.

Ryan Strome, NYI at EDM ($3,500): The 23-year-old forward has found an offensive groove since Jack Capuano got fired. Strome is playing on the No. 1 power-play unit, and he has six goals, 14 points and 29 shots while averaging 2:32 of ice time with the man advantage over his past 17 games. At this salary, Strome is a worthwhile low-priced flier.

WING

Max Pacioretty, MON at VAN ($6,600): As he's been producing at an elite level for a prolonged stretch, this salary doesn't match Pacioretty's upside. He's notched 26 goals, 43 points and 150 shots through his past 42 games and has already posted his fourth consecutive 30-goal campaign. Additionally, after winning consecutive road games against Los Angeles and Anaheim, the Canucks are in a ripe spot for a letdown at home against the capable Canadiens.

Leon Draisaitl, EDM vs. NYI ($5,900): While the 21-year-old forward is eight games removed from his last multi-point outing, Draisaitl still has a respectable two goals and five points during that span. He's locked into a cushy gig alongside Connor McDavid in all situations, and the duo has combined for 3.3 goals per 60 minutes at five-on-five this year. It's also a soft matchup, with the Islanders having allowed the third most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (12.02).

Sam Reinhart, BUF vs. PHI ($5,100): Turn to Reinhart confidently until his price begins to catch up to his production. The winger has five goals, 11 points and 44 shots through his past 14 games, and he's locked into a favorable offensive role flanking Jack Eichel and skating with the No. 1 power-play unit. He's also been on the ice for an impressive 33 high-danger scoring chances in his past nine games.

DEFENSE

Oscar Klefbom, EDM vs. NYI ($5,100): As noted, this is a cushy matchup for the Oliers, and Klefbom is in line for a bounce-back showing after missing the scoresheet and registering just two shots through his past two outings. The rearguard posted four goals, 12 points, 39 shots and 28 blocked shots through his previous 15 games heading into that mini-slump. This is also a manageable salary for Klefbom, especially since he's the power-play quarterback of the No. 1 unit.

Jake Gardiner, TOR vs. DET ($4,300): Detroit has one regulation win in its past 11 games, and Gardiner's salary opens up spending room at other positions. He went pointless through Toronto's recent three-game California swing but had a four-game point streak prior. Additionally, Gardiner's 1.41 points per 60 minutes rank 16th among all defensemen with at least 1,250 minutes this year. That's sneaky production.
