FantasyDraft NHL: Tuesday Picks

FantasyDraft NHL: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our FantasyDraft NHL series.

Tuesdays tend to be busy in the NHL, and that's again the case this week with 11 games on the slate. Here are some picks to consider when assembling your lineup…

GOALIE

Anaheim Ducks, ANA at VAN ($16,600): Now that John Gibson is seemingly back to being healthy, it's unclear who will be starting in this game. However, it doesn't really matter, because Jonathan Bernier has a 1.49 GAA and a .950 save percentage in his last eight contests. Overall, Anaheim has only allowed 2.43 goals per game, whereas Vancouver has scored a paltry 2.24 goals per contest. Additionally, the Canucks are 2-6-2 over their last 10.

CENTER

Aleksander Barkov, FLA at TOR ($12,900): Barkov has 21 goals and 51 points, which is impressive in its own right. However, he's only played in 60 games, making his point total that much more notable. He's also tallied 12 points in his last 10 contests. The Maple Leafs have allowed 32.9 shots on net per game, which is the third most in the NHL, and they've also given up 2.85 goals per contest. Barkov also has 13 power-play points, and since the All-Star break, Toronto has the 23rd-ranked penalty kill.

Kyle Turris, OTT at PHI ($10,600): Turris has averaged 12.60 fantasy points per game, and in his last seven contests since returning from injury, he has five points and 25 shots on goal. He's also started 35.5 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone and averaged 2:54 per game on the power play. Overall, he's notched 16 power-play points in 71 games. The Flyers have given up 2.88 goals per game, and their penalty kill is ranked 22nd in the league.

WING

Nick Foligno, CLM vs. BUF ($12,100): Like many of Columbus' players, Foligno has also found quite a bit of power-play success, as he's potted 20 power-play points (including 11 goals) in 71 games. Granted, Columbus' power play has cooled a bit, but the Sabres have the 28th-ranked penalty kill, so perhaps this game will yield results. Foligno has also tallied 170 shots on net, and Buffalo has allowed a league-high 34.3 shots on goal per game. On top of that, the Sabres will be on the second night of a back-to-back.

Patrick Eaves, ANA at VAN ($11,700): Since becoming a Duck, much like Adam Banks before him, Eaves has continued his success. He's tallied six goals (and two assists) on 38 shots in 13 games. While he hasn't scored on the power play yet, he's averaged 2:22 per game with the extra man in Anaheim, and he had 16 power-play points with the Stars. Vancouver has struggled offensively, but they haven't been much better defensively. The Canucks have allowed 2.89 goals and 31.9 shots on net per game on average, and their penalty kill is ranked 27th.

Alexander Radulov, MON vs. DAL ($9,900): The Stars have allowed 3.15 goals per game, and their penalty kill is at the bottom of the NHL. Radulov has played 2:54 per game with the extra man, and he's tallied 16 power-play points in 70 games, so he should be able to take advantage of a matchup against the league's worst penalty kill.

DEFENSEMEN

Kevin Shattenkirk, WAS at MIN ($11,000): In the month of March, the Wild have given up a whopping 3.07 goals per game. Even the mighty Devan Dubnyk has a 2.76 GAA and a .898 save percentage in March. Shattenkirk, meanwhile, has eight points (all assists) and 30 shots on goal in 11 games with the Capitals. He's also been given every opportunity on the power play. Shattenkirk has averaged 4:03 per game with the extra man, and four of his points have come on the power play.

Dion Phaneuf, OTT at PHI ($7,700): Phaneuf has put 144 shots on goal in 74 games and has also notched 146 blocked shots. The Flyers have attempted 59.0 shots per 60 minutes, which is seventh most in the NHL, so Phaneuf should have plenty of chances to get in front of pucks Tuesday. Additionally, Phaneuf has tallied 16 power-play points, and the Flyers have the 22nd-ranked penalty kill.
